Sherwood Elementary
Sherwood Elementary is an Innovation School in Gaston County Schools with a focus on using clear strategies and strong purpose to boost student success. Students receive extra instructional support, and teachers take on advanced roles to help students achieve at a higher level.
Providing care for students at school
Thanks to our partnership with Kintegra Health, we offer a telehealth clinic here at our school. Students, who are experiencing a minor illness or condition, can be seen by a medical provider virtually.

Join us for Open House on Monday, August 10 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Meet your child’s teacher, tour the school, and get ready for a great year of learning and growing at Sherwood Elementary.
Kindergarten screenings will be held every Thursday from June 4 through Aug. 6. Appointments are available from 9 a.m. to noon and 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Each screening takes approximately 15 minutes.

The school supply list for the 2026–2027 school year is now available. Families can view the list by grade level.
Parents, if your child will need bus transportation for the 2026-2027 school year, please complete the transportation form as soon as possible. This helps our schools plan safe and efficient bus routes. Be sure to provide accurate and up-to-date information. Thank you for helping us prepare for a smooth start to the school year!

Clubs and Activities
Sherwood Elementary students can take part in clubs and activities such as robotics, Math Masters, and Battle of the Books.
Learning Through Music
Students are introduced to a love of the arts through hands-on activities and field trips. Recently, singer and actress Maria Howell visited to share her talents and inspire students with a live performance.
Community Partnerships
We're a proud community school that partners with the local police and fire departments to support learning and build strong relationships. The school also works with the Schiele Museum to bring hands-on science and history experiences to the classroom.
