Sherwood Elementary has been selected as one of 10 Innovation Schools in Gaston County for the 2025-2026 academic year. Innovation Schools focus on using clear strategies and strong purpose to boost student success. Students receive extra instructional support, and teachers take on advanced roles to help students achieve their best.

Thanks to our partnership with Kintegra Health, we offer a telehealth clinic here at our school. Students, who are experiencing a minor illness or condition, can be seen by a medical provider virtually. This allows us to provide care for students without them having to leave school to go to the doctor.

The Board of Education will meet on Monday, November 17, at 5:30 p.m. at the Gaston County Schools Central Office, 943 Osceola Street, Gastonia. The public is invited to attend. View the agenda online.
Gaston County Schools is partnering with Kintegra Health to provide a school-based telehealth clinic, giving students access to medical care without leaving campus.
Through the telehealth clinic, students can connect with a Kintegra Health medical provider using secure video technology. A trained clinical professional will be with the student during the visit to assist with the exam and communicate with the provider.

Parents, if your child will need bus transportation for the 2025-2026 school year, please complete the transportation form as soon as possible. This helps our schools plan safe and efficient bus routes. Be sure to provide accurate and up-to-date information. Thank you for helping us prepare for a smooth start to the school year!
The Gaston Regional Science and Engineering Fair for students in grades 3-12 will be held at Belmont CityWorks, 1401 East Catawba Street in Belmont. The elementary division is scheduled for December 4-5 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., with awards beginning at noon, and the high school division will take place January 8-9 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., with awards beginning at noon. This annual event gives students the opportunity to showcase their projects, explore new ideas, and celebrate the importance of science, technology, engineering, and math.
The Gaston County Schools Marching Band Fanfare showcased crowd-pleasing performances by our high school bands.

Students are introduced to a love of the arts through hands-on activities and field trips. Recently, singer and actress Maria Howell visited to share her talents and inspire students with a live performance.

Community Partnerships
We're a proud community school that partners with the local police and fire departments to support learning and build strong relationships. The school also works with the Schiele Museum to bring hands-on science and history experiences to the classroom.
